Psylight's Playground (Is Dead)

A balm for broken hearts. There's some dancy stuff here, some beautiful stuff, some slow stuff, and everything in between. This is a landmark mix for me, IMO. It was done mostly live, in a single pass. That means it's not quite perfect, but it's really close and I really like it. It's not meant to be danceable, really. There are some parts that are, but don't be expecting another Ephemereality or Trancephase.

Why a balm for broken hearts? I've been struggling with some personal issues lately. I tried going the "let's-just-be-friends" route with one of my ex-girlfriends, only to realize that I can't do it any longer after a year and a half. I had to free myself. This mix is a symbol of my journey to freedom from the pain of that broken relationship.

Musically, there are some really strange crossfades and juxtapositions here. I don't think anything's really clashy though. Flow was still maintained, despite the incredible diversity of source material. Or so I think. Feel free to comment.

Quality-wise, I've switched from -q0.5 to -q0.48 for the Nero AAC encoder. This way, I should be able to keep 5 mixes up at any given time. -q0.5 was just a touch too big. Also, this mix is entirely created from lossless sources, for maximum tonal purity.

Ephemereality is the defining DJ Psylight mix. If you'd like to hear my sound, get this. I have not put this much effort into a DJ mix ever before, or ever since. Between a dizzying array of genres and influences, hard-hitting dance numbers, and all-out electronic madness, this mix is designed to impress. It should be reasonably danceable too!

I'm re-releasing this mix with a few different settings. It should now properly transfer over to your iPod. I will be reposting most of the content on the site to fix this issue. Thanks to Brian for pointing this out and helping with debugging!
