Further Up and Further In (Final Post)
January 29, 2007 12:30 PM PST
This will be my final post on podomatic.com. The new podcast page is available at http://dj.psylight.ca. I have 5 mixes up there currently, with more being added as you read this. None will ever be swapped off. Two have never been posted before on this site. http://dj.psylight.ca - For great justice. DNB4PG

DNB4PG is a live demo mix I put together for local promoters. It's not perfect, but its energy will wear you out. Comments and track listing: http://psylight.ca/2007/01/15/dnb4pg/ Podulate
January 09, 2007 08:37 AM PST
Podulate is a tight, euphoric, uplifting dance mix emphasizing trance-like progressions and melodic structure. Podulate is the second in my series of "Trancy" mixes, including Trancephase and Spectral Artifacts. Sorry about the posting delay, I was waiting for my bandwidth usage to go back to normal after the Christmas post spree. Comments and track listing: http://psylight.ca/2007/01/09/podulate/ Igneous

Igneous, like many of my other mixes, starts slow and just keeps building. Comments and track listing: http://psylight.ca/2006/12/31/igneous/ Unfinity

A balm for broken hearts. There's some dancy stuff here, some beautiful stuff, some slow stuff, and everything in between. This is a landmark mix for me, IMO. It was done mostly live, in a single pass. That means it's not quite perfect, but it's really close and I really like it. It's not meant to be danceable, really. There are some parts that are, but don't be expecting another Ephemereality or Trancephase. Why a balm for broken hearts? I've been struggling with some personal issues lately. I tried going the "let's-just-be-friends" route with one of my ex-girlfriends, only to realize that I can't do it any longer after a year and a half. I had to free myself. This mix is a symbol of my journey to freedom from the pain of that broken relationship. Musically, there are some really strange crossfades and juxtapositions here. I don't think anything's really clashy though. Flow was still maintained, despite the incredible diversity of source material. Or so I think. Feel free to comment. Quality-wise, I've switched from -q0.5 to -q0.48 for the Nero AAC encoder. This way, I should be able to keep 5 mixes up at any given time. -q0.5 was just a touch too big. Also, this mix is entirely created from lossless sources, for maximum tonal purity. Track listing:
Ephemereality
December 04, 2006 10:14 AM PST
Ephemereality is the defining DJ Psylight mix. If you'd like to hear my sound, get this. I have not put this much effort into a DJ mix ever before, or ever since. Between a dizzying array of genres and influences, hard-hitting dance numbers, and all-out electronic madness, this mix is designed to impress. It should be reasonably danceable too! I'm re-releasing this mix with a few different settings. It should now properly transfer over to your iPod. I will be reposting most of the content on the site to fix this issue. Thanks to Brian for pointing this out and helping with debugging! Track listing:
